Woo-hoo! Just in time for the holiday weekend, we’ve got clear skies and 70-degree temps across the board! Instantly, that news has us dreaming of the beach and the sexiest of tousled beach-wavy hair. So, just how can you achieve this ultimate summer ‘do, even if you’ve got stick-straight tresses? We’ve recruited local hair guru Jeremy Jenks from Johnny Bueno salon to give us a step-by-step guide on how to create the chic beach-bum look yourself, regardless if you’re heading to Outer Sunset for an action-packed day at Ocean Beach, or if you’re chilling miles inland.
Check out these 5 super-simple steps!
Step 1: Prep Your Hair
"Make sure that your hair is completely bone-dry. If there's any moisture in it whatsoever, the curl is going to fall out, especially if you have really fine and straight hair. For girls with naturally curly hair who want a softer wave look, you might want to straighten some of your curls beforehand. Having more layers in your hair will also help the curls stay put longer and give the whole look a boost of volume."
Step 2: Section Your Hair
"Work with 1 1/2-inch horizontal sections at a time, starting from the bottom and pinning the rest of the hair up. After you're done with one section, bring a new section down."
Step 3: Spray And Curl
"Comb the section out and spray it with a medium-hold hairspray. Then create little sub-sections to curl. The smaller the piece you curl, the tighter the curl will be, obviously. Use a 1-inch curling iron and hold it somewhat vertically. Going away from your face, twist the hair around the iron, holding 1-3 inches of hair out on the bottom to create that curly yet straight beachy look. Leave the hair on the iron for about 10 seconds."
Step 4: Scrunch And Spray
"To help the curl set after you take it off the iron, you can scrunch it up gently in your hand while it's cooling. Then, if more hold is needed, let it drop and spray it again with the medium-hold spray."
Step 5: Spray And Shake
"Once you've curled all of your hair, add a salt spray over your whole head for texture and, if you still need the hold, a thin mist of medium-hold hairspray. Lean your head back and shake your curls out slightly and tighten any face-framing curls that have fallen out. Voila!"

(NEW YORK) Kim Kardashian's e-tailer, ShoeDazzle.com, has secured a $40 million investment from Andreessen Horowitz, a $950 million company that invests in Facebook, Groupon, and Twitter. For the last two years, the members-only footwear site has garnered the attention of the masses for its innovative retail formula. The concept? Subscribers are charged $39.95 every month once they sign up. In order to opt out of the charge, members must log onto the site within the first five days of the month and cancel. Online shoppers aren't deterred by the automatic withdrawals. In fact, they're flocking to the site in droves—apparently—reined in by wallet-friendly price tags and in-house designs by Kardashian. This year, the site is expected to bring in $70 million in revenue, and they're on track with 3 million subscribers and 900,000 Facebook fans. With Andreessen Horowitz's financial backing, ShoeDazzle.com's is expected to expand globally to the U.K., Asia, and South America.

If your locks could use a lift this spring, we've found it. We're loving volume, but backcombing is so eighth-grade-dance-recital, and we'd rather go for something grown up. Amy Abramite, Creative Director at Maxine Salon, suggests a small texturizing iron, or mini-crimper. "The texturizing iron's primary function is to create body and volume. It can be used in the areas that need lift, such as the crown." And don't fret about this trend damaging your tresses: "To create extra body and volume, take small sections of hair at the scalp and crimp only the first inch of the hair. This will result in an explosion of lift, with the slightest change in texture. Because the crimping plates are so small, the hair's natural texture is slightly altered in appearance, but the amount of body is amplified.” Abramite also recommends using a little product before and after. She likes Shu Uemura Ample Angora Volumizing Light Foam before, and Shu Uemura's Sheer Lacquer Finishing Spray after. Eyelash Tinting—A wonder for those with lighter lashes or a way for sun worshippers to keep their lashes bold and black, lash tinting lasts 4 to 6 weeks and, except for the appointment, is no-fuss. "With tinting, you're just making lashes darker, so if you want thickness and drama you can still use mascara," says Boom Boom Brow Bar owner Malynda Vigliotti. And if you're worried about safety, check out what type of dye your salon uses. "We use a vegetable-based dye that's made especially for lashes," says Vigliotti. "And at the Boom Boom, we do our lash tints sitting up, so the product won't go back into your eye. We also thoroughly flush your eyes out with sensitive formula saline so that you are clean and crystal clear when you leave."

Semi-Permanent Coating—For truly effortless yet seriously defined lashes, go for LashDip, a new semi-permanent professional lash coat. With a price tag of $250, it's definitely on the expensive side, but LashDip lasts up to six weeks and can be applied over natural lashes or lash extensions. Here's the deal: LashDip wraps an extra dark, fully waterproof coating around each lash and works like a mascara to add curl, volume, and length.
